Prof. Dr. Fakhr-Ul-Islam (Urdu: ﻓﺨﺮاﻻﺳﻼم )  belongs to a village named Garhi Usmani Khel at Malakand district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan. He got his master degrees in Pakistan Studies and Political Science from Peshawar and Punjab Universities respectively. He also got Postgraduate Diploma in International Human Rights Law. In 1997, he received his Ph.D. degree from Area Study Centre for Russia, China and Central Asia. Dr. Fakhr has a very brilliant academic record. He topped Peshawar University in BA examination. He has been teaching in Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar since 1987. In the meantime he taught in the International Islamic University (IIUI) Islamabad. In IIUI, he also acted as Head Department of Politics and International Relations and Acting Dean Faculty of Social Sciences. He also remained Director Social Welfare and Special Education in the Government of NWFP during 2003-2008. In 2011, he was appointed as Director Pakistan Study Centre Peshawar University, a post he is holding till date. Apart from teaching at Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar, he has been teaching as Visiting Professor in various Universities, and research/capacity building institutions. He has to his credit 8 books and 70 research papers published in journals of international repute. He is also Editor of HEC recognized journal “Pakistan” He is associated with numerous research/development organizations and think tanks. He has visited many countries of Asia, Europe and Africa where he participated in various programs and delivered lectures in universities.
